Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF): Building Trust in Diverse Stakeholders

BOSF was initiated in 1991 of the Directorate General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation of the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry. The Balikpapan Orangutan Survival Foundation signed a MoU with the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry, represented by the Directorate General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation, in 1999. Then later changed the name to Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation in 2003. BOSF rescued 40 orangutans over 10 days, it was boasted as the biggest wild great ape rescue mission in the world. Since 2011, BOSF already released 195 orangutans to their “home” in some forests in Borneo.
