This case study discusses Garuda Indonesia's 2018 financial statements which are considered "misstatements" with its revenue accounts. As the largest domestic airline company and the carrier of Indonesia's national flag, Garuda managed to make the public pay a lot of attention to the company, because in June 2019 the regulator stated that Garuda had manipulated the 2018 financial statements and required Garuda to reissue the report it had made, as well as pay a fine for the error. On the other hand, the audit team was sanctioned for not carrying out the audit process properly. In a sense, this case is another example of an accounting scandal and audit failure. However, there is always another side to the story, which is expected to be discussed during class discussions.
