Academic Integrity Module

Welcome to this suite of learning units on academic integrity. The Academic Integrity Module is designed to familiarize you with the ethos of academic work as you embark on your studies at Binus University International. Today, more than ever, the explosion of knowledge on the internet and easy access calls for a response attuned to the times.

We hope that the units included in the Academic Integrity Module will provide you with strategies to guard against unintentional breaches of academic honesty and reinforce integrity in all that you do, not just at the university but, more importantly, throughout your future professional lives.

As you gain access to a wealth of information online and elsewhere, the Academic Integrity Module will teach you the conventions of acknowledging the works of others. Not only does this show gratitude to the experts in your chosen field of study, but it also establishes your credibility as a learner. More importantly, the module underscores the value of originality and novelty in ideas. University studies require that you not only use existing knowledge properly but also produce new knowledge and contribute to building knowledge within your areas of study.

The five units of study included in the modules cover the foundations of academic integrity, common acts of academic dishonesty—including plagiarism, collusion, falsification, and fabrication— and using sources correctly.

You must complete the AIM Summative Test toward the end of the Academic Integrity Module. Passing the test entitles you to a certificate of completion, which earns you SAT points and informs your lecturers that you are prepared to undertake academic work at Binus University International.
